Therapy with Lee

Queer therapy Oakland, CA

APPROACH

Are you longing to feel more connected to yourself and others? To be able to tap into a sense of resiliency and minimize the impact of chronic stress? Fear, traumas, systemic oppression and shame have so many ways of cutting you off from vital parts of yourself and your communities. It is my intention to help you access these unique pieces and re-integrate them so that you can live your life more fully. Through this process we can uncover the resources that are available to you inside and out.

My practice is grounded in my training as an Expressive Arts Therapist; this means that depending on your preferences and style of processing, we have the option to weave in visual art, music, movement and play into sessions to explore other modes of expression beyond talk therapy.

Other approaches that I draw from include: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you gain insight and build skills.

I enjoy supporting clients with:

  • Self-care & coping skills

  • Coming out and LGBTQIA+ identity

  • Gender identity and transition

  • Neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism)

  • Trauma/ PTSD

  • Chronic pain/ illness

  • Depression & anxiety

  • Relationship changes & endings

  • Grief/ Loss

  • Pet bereavement

ABOUT

I am a non-binary queer person (they/ them) living on unceded Chinook territory (otherwise known as Portland, OR) with my partner and 2 cats. I draw comfort from seasonal cycles, plant propagation, art in all shapes and forms and home-cooked meals.

I am licensed as an LMFT in the states of CA & OR. I see California clients virtually and Oregon clients both virtually and in the office in the Northeast of Portland.

My professional background includes over 2 decades of multidisciplinary work experience ranging from graphic design to various roles in non-profits and healthcare systems. In 2015, I graduated from the Expressive Arts Therapy program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. I was trained at the Pacific Center for Human Growth in Berkeley, CA, where I had the privilege to provide LGBTQIA+ affirming care as well as facilitate peer support groups. Additionally, I have worked in community mental health with families who have experienced complex personal and systemic traumas.
